How much money does a pro gamer make9/1/2023 ![]() The audition process can take up to a full week, meaning that applicants might have to miss school or work before even making the team. Highlights of these prep classes might be posted online for fans to enjoy. To increase the odds of making the team, applicants are encouraged to sign up for audition prep classes that cost roughly $25 to $75. There are other costs related to auditions too, including hair, makeup, apparel, and tanning appointments. The Indianapolis Colts charge $75 to each woman auditioning. To audition for the Atlanta Falcons' cheerleading squad, for example, there is a $35 fee-cash or money order only (no checks). The would-be cheerleaders must first cough up some cash to be considered for the gig. Cheerleaders even have to pay to audition.Įvery year, hundreds of women try out with the hopes of being selected as one of the two or three dozen selected as cheerleaders for an NFL team. Meanwhile, the average NFL player's annual salary is over $2 million, according to Forbes, and the NFL generates about $14 billion in revenues per year lately, up from $8 billion in 2010. Generally speaking, it is unusual for professional cheerleaders to earn more than a few thousand dollars per season, and a typical NFL cheerleader probably averages around $10 or less per hour over the course of a season. San Diego Chargers cheerleaders had been getting paid a flat $75 per game, but a California law that went into effect in 2016 mandated that they be paid for all their work at least at the state minimum wage of $10 per hour. Nowadays, NFL cheerleaders earn somewhere between $75 to $150 per game, and might make as much as $50 an hour for special corporate appearances. In the aftermath of multiple lawsuits and tons of bad PR, NFL teams seem to be paying cheerleaders better lately, and yes, that includes payment for most practices and appearances. One anonymous NFL cheerleader wrote in Cosmopolitan that she was paid $3,000 during the 2006 season, but after adding up non-reimbursed expenses for things like makeup and stylist appointments, she netted only $300. Or it could be that teams are keeping quiet about cheerleader pay because the wages are so embarrassingly low.Ī lawsuit filed on the behalf of one former San Francisco 49ers cheerleader said that she earned a total of $1,250 per season, which worked out to roughly $2.75 per hour. (The results of these suits have varied, with one NFL team agreeing to a $1.25 million settlement with former cheerleaders, one claim thrown out of court, and one team, the Buffalo Bills, dropping its cheerleaders entirely.) In recent years, a number of lawsuits have been filed alleging that teams broke the law by paying sub-minimum-wages to cheerleaders. Their reluctance to discuss the issue could be because they're scared of being sued. If a team states anything publicly about the issue, it's generally something vague and unhelpful like what's on the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders site: "There is a pay schedule for rehearsals, home football games, promo appearances & shows." We reached out to the New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles, and several other teams, and all either didn't respond or refused to give any details about cheerleader wages. NFL teams are super secretive about how much cheerleaders get paid. ("Yes, a mother is considered a full-time job!" one team notes in its list of cheerleader requirements.) The pay is minimal. ![]() In fact, cheerleaders are often required to have other jobs or be students in college. It's not supposed to be a full-time job.ĭespite the demands of cheerleading, NFL teams stress that it is not a full-time job. One team even required that all cheerleaders have straight hair. Other rules might include being forbidden to drink, smoke, curse, or chew gum in public, and bans on hanging out or dating NFL players. They could also be fined for wearing the wrong outfit to practices. ![]() Many cheerleaders are not paid by the hour either, but with a set fee for each game or appearance, and many complain about not being compensated at all for practices or travel time.įormer NFL cheerleaders claim that members of the squad were sometimes benched for gaining weight during the season. One former NBA cheerleader said she often worked 30 to 40 hours per week, once rehearsals, workouts, games, and special appearances were added up. ![]() Breaded pork chops recipe9/1/2023 ![]() ![]() You could go for some homemade French fries or a delicious potato salad or some smashed potatoes. I’m sure I don’t need to tell you what to serve with your beautiful juicy air fryer breaded pork chops, but if you were looking for inspiration, a potato dish would be nice. They should reach 150✯ at their thickest point when cooked. When the chops are fully cooked, they will feel firm to the touch, but you can always check them with an instant read thermometer. If your chops are thinner than that, they’ll cook faster so just drop the time down a little. Bone-in chops that are about 1 ½ inches thick will take about 15 minutes. The time it takes to cook your chops in the air fryer will depend entirely on how thick they are. That’s why I recommend using a spray bottle to coat your breaded food items – so that you can evenly coat the crumbs with oil without over-doing it. If you have patches of dry crumbs when you put the chops into the air fryer, you’ll have patches of dry, flavorless crumbs when they are done. It’s important for the crumbs to be evenly coated with oil so that they brown and crisp well. Once the chops are coated, place them into your air fryer basket and give them a good spray with oil. Push the crumbs onto the chops to make sure they are well coated. You can read all about breading and dredging in this cooking school lesson, but at the most basic level you need to know that you always start dredging or breading with flour, THEN egg, THEN crumbs. There is a right way to do this and it might not be naturally intuitive to you. Once we’ve brined our thick chops and ensured they will be juicy on the inside, it’s time to dredge and bread the chops so that they are crispy on the outside. That moisture and flavor remains in the chops when you cook and the increased moisture level makes it more difficult to over-cook the pork. When that happens, the flavors that you’ve put into your spice rub or salty marinade also get drawn into the meat and you’re left with pork chops that are seasoned on the inside. But then the movement of water reverses and the chops draw the moisture back in. Either way, the salt draws moisture out of (yes, out of) the chops. You can dry-brine the chops with a salty spice rub (as is the case with these Honey BBQ Pork Chops), or you can wet brine the chops with a salty water solution. If you brine chops that are 1-½ inches thick and then air fry them, you’re destined for a nice juicy pork chop dinner! Brining Pork Chopsīrining simply means to pre-salt your chops. Air frying is faster than baking because of the intense heat and as a result the chops don’t have as much time to dry out. The third way to make juicy chops is to use your air fryer. Now, this does take some forethought since brining should really be done for a minimum of 6 hours, but it is so worth it in the end. The second way to avoid making dry pork chops is to brine the chops first. Thicker pork chops, on the other hand, take longer to cook through, giving you enough time to get the exterior of the chops brown (or crispy if that’s what you’re going for) before they over-cook. Very thin pork chops cook all the way through and dry out before the outside really has time to brown. The first way to avoid dry chops is to buy thicker pork chops. While it is relatively easy to over-cook pork and dry it out, there are a few ways to easily avoid this problem in the kitchen and this recipe for air fryer breaded pork chops incorporates all of them. Dry pork chops haunt many cooks, but they needn’t. ![]() Relative humidity vs dew point9/1/2023 ![]() ![]() Safer and less noisy than traditional compressor dehumidifiers, it features a large capacity catch basin and a built-in ionizer and filter.Įva-Dry is on the leading edge of dehumidification technology and understands how important it is to maintain good indoor air quality to support health and keep your family comfortable. Luckily you are not powerless when it comes to controlling the humidity within your home. Keeping the humidity down helps improve the indoor air quality in your home, as well as keep your family more comfortable. Having humidity at about 45-55% is comfortable for most people, but it is also a healthy environment to be in. Having water stream down your windows is destructive to your household and even more importantly, it is destructive to your health. Though calculating the dew point is difficult indoors, you can tell when your household has hit that dew point temperature when you see condensation on your windows. 66 ” 70 “Starting to feel “muggy” now, and quite uncomfortable.Dew points below 55 are very comfortable for most people. Here is a chart that might help you figure out how dew point levels will feel on a comfortability basis: And this humidity might end up leaking into your home. The dew point gives you a relatively good idea of how it is going to feel outside but also how it might feel inside your house. When you are watching the meteorologist on the local news or on your favorite weather app, you’ll see that dew point is one of the key parts of a weather report. As a general rule, the closer the dew point is to the actual temperature, the higher the humidity level and the more uncomfortable it will feel. You can see the phenomenon on a cool glass of water with water droplets streaming down its sides-a result of the cool water in the cup bringing down the temperature of the air around it and condensing the water in the air. The dew point is the temperature at which the air becomes saturated with moisture, causing dew droplets to form. Whenever you see a meteorologist on the screen they are usually bringing up dew point in reference to humidity. Humidity is commonly measured in relative humidity and people tend to comfortably live in environments with a relative humidity of 45 to 55%-this level of relative humidity will allow you to maintain a healthy environment both for your body and living space.īut what about the dew point? Understanding the Dew Point Though there isn’t much we can do with the humidity outside, there are ways to prevent it from affecting you inside your home or living place. Humidity is also affected by an area’s distance from bodies of water such as lakes, rivers, and oceans. ![]() This also means a change in humidity during changes in seasons, with summer months producing more moisture over winter months. Water evaporates the warmer it gets, warmer environments produce far more moisture than colder environments. A lot of these effects are negative and change indoor air quality for the worse. We are all familiar with that muggy and sticky feeling we get in a humid environment. The pritchel hole plays a very similar role as the hardy hole. By securing these pieces, the hardie hole is a great tool that facilitates the bending of metal pieces and the hole-punching of forgings. This hole has a square-shaped mouth that allows blacksmiths to hold rod-like tools such as chisels or swages. The hardie hole of an anvil is typically located inside the surface of the face on the end opposite of the horn, also known as the heel. Using the appropriate metal-cutting tools may be a better method of achieving the same result. While this part can be used to cut work pieces on its edge, doing so can wear out its features if done often. The table’s height is slightly higher than the horn and lower than the face. ![]() The table is also often referred to as the step, which is a narrow flat surface located between the horn and the face of the anvil. This part of the anvil does not necessarily have to be as hard of a material as the face since it is mostly used for bending applications. This end looks very much like a horn and its curvature is best used to shape metal pieces into rounded shapes. The horn of the anvil is the pointed cone-like end that is typically considered the front of the anvil. Despite the fact that the face is not directly struck by a hammer, it is important that the face material can withstand heavy blows without breaking or losing its flat shape. This surface acts as a stable base for striking metal workpieces, so it is the surface of the anvil that is most often used. The face of the anvil is the flat surface located on the top of its structure. Each of these unique parts are further described in the following sections. An anvil is made up of a face, a horn, a table, a hardie hole, and a pritchel hole. The different work surfaces and features of anvils each have their own names. Second hand was, and still is, a popular choice due to cost savings, but anvils have surprisingly become quite affordable in recent years and you can actually pick up brand new anvils from many online stores at great prices. ![]() The latter two are more likely to sell second-hand anvils, but as anvils are designed to withstand a huge amount of wear-and-tear by design, second-hand is rarely a bad choice so long as you know what you’re looking for (see more on this below). You can pick up new quality anvils from specialised retailers who focus on forging equipment, or even from popular online stores such as Amazon, Ebay or Cragslist. Where Can I Buy An Anvil? (Best Places to Purchase) In this article, we’ll cover the most common types of modern anvils, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each style in relation to blacksmithing and metalwork. Modern blacksmith anvils today are generally made of steel, consisting of more favorable metallurgical properties for modern uses and applications. As their function evolved with the times, they were created with stronger materials, such as bronze and wrought iron, especially during the Middle Ages. However, early iterations of anvils were simply slabs of stone used as surfaces that help shape a metal object. Anvils are essentially metal blocks that typically feature three different work faces to shape a workpiece in a variety of ways.
